If you’re reading this post, you’ve probably wanted to know why should I start a blog? What’s in it for me? What can I get out of blogging? First and foremost, money! You can get paid to blog and some bloggers make serious cash. It’s better to be your own boss because you really have no limit on what you can make but if you’re just starting out and want to get paid a lower, but more steady source of income, you can definitely make money blogging. Bloggers can get anywhere from $0.50 a post to $250 for a blog article. Yes, it really does get that high. I know someone that has wrote 1 blog for at least $100 for various companies. The blog posts consisted of 500-600 word articles on clothing, shoes, local events.
Now she isn’t a famous, popular, or well-known blogger but companies knew she wrote excellent, well researched articles that would help sell or promote their articles or advertising. If you want to get paid to blog, then I recommend first developing your own blog and then including that in your resume that you send to high profile companies (such as Fortune 500 companies) with blogs.
Blogging for Exposure
Along these lines, you may want to start a blog of your own is for exposure of yourself or what you do. Blogging is one of the best ways to get this and to get people to your website as well as your blog. The blog may be a part of your website even or just something that shows what you are doing with your work or home life.
Blogging for Fun
Some just want to create a blog for fun and to let people know what they are doing with themselves. This is a way to get people you may know to read your work as well as to just have fun and share the things they really love with other people. You may also decide to talk about the hobbies you have and what they do for your life. Sharing your passion is a way to have fun with a blog and you may unexpectedly pick up some great paychecks along the way.
I’ve personally had 3rd party advertisers contact me out of the blue on a couple of blogs that I had no idea would make me significant pocketbook. Examples of these type of fun-hobbyish blogs include model airplanes, blogging about school, making a hometown blog about where you live, discussing interior design and how to improve your home, talking about raising your kids, and more.
Keep in mind, you don’t have to be an expert or hold yourself out to be some know-it-all guru. People like reading about struggles, success, different opinions, and honest experiences. Search engines such as Google also find this text just as easy as they do expert text. Translation: anyone can write a blog and be successful with it. You don’t need to be some leading expert in the field of home design, raising a child, model airplanes, a major city, academia, etc.
Blogging for Business
Of course, another benefit to blogging rather than straight money is to attract customers for your biz. By creating a blog that talks about the business you have, you can generate interest in your business for yourself, thereby increasing sales and indirectly (or maybe directly) making you even more money). Blogs and the Internet in general are very efficient and have extremely powerful potential and exploding your business.
Blogs are better than a plain website because they get indexed faster by the search engines and offer dynamic reading material rather than stale, boring information. You also can offer deals or promo codes for customers or potential customers that are reading your blog only. You may also just choose to have a blog and not a full website. This is also a good way to get a little bit of business and make the sales you want to make.
If you are going to start a blog, you should take a little time to get your blog together and know what you are going to have on it to start. Blogs are one of the few things in the world right now that can create a landslide of power income within a year. There is so much explosive potential for someone who enters a niche and just blogs and blogs on it over and over that you can literally make millions in 1 or 2 years.
Some of the success stories from around the web are incredible. One finance company bought out a blog for millions. I forgot which one it was and can’t find it after a quick Google search but there was a very successful finance blog that was already rolling in the dough that got bought out for I think 2.5 million. If anybody finds out which blogger this was, let me know. Of course, you’ve probably also heard of the success stories of many other professional bloggers such as TechCrunch, PerezHilton, SportsByBrooks, and more. These blogs all easily get 6 figures and. TechCrunch is worth several million dollars. Can you really make money blogging? The answer is a resounding YES!
